The BCEP snow day field session is held in the gullies near Timberline Lodge. This day affords you the opportunity to practice snow skills such as movement on crampons, rope team travel, ice axe techniques, moving in balance, self-arrest, self-belay, as well as to observe snow anchors.

Prospectus

Snow field session for team 8.

Saturday:  Meet at Timberline Lodge climber parking lot (lowest parking lot) and be ready to go with harnesses and helmets on at 8am.  Dress warm.  We will go a short way up Palmer snowfield and then drop packs and practice glacier travel.

We will be practicing glacier travel, falling, different ways to self-arrest, hip belay, walking in balance with ice axe, running belay.  We will be on snow most of the day so dress warm.  After our Timberline session we will head to the lodge.
