Canyoneering 2021

This six-week course includes weekly lectures and two field sessions (you may choose any two days of the listed field sessions, preferably two different weekends). The lectures will provide an overview of canyoneering, introduce canyon-specific topics and techniques, and prepare students for the class field sessions. An optional, late-summer outing will be offered to course graduates.

The class will focus on local canyoneering in the Pacific NW, but we will touch on some aspects specific to the sandstone canyons of the Colorado Plateau.

The time commitment is moderate.

2021 Information

Lectures will be held at the MMC and will be on August 12, August 19, August 26, September 2, and September 9 from 6:30–9 p.m.

Additional Breakout session at the MMC on August 24 from 6:30–9 p.m.

Outings scheduled for August 28-29, September 4-5 and/or September 11-12. Students will be required to attend 2 outings.
