Climbing Awards
The Mazamas offer awards for summiting some of the major NW peaks with the organization. There are also special awards for climb leaders who lead these peaks. View all climbing award recipients here.
Guardian Peaks
A certificate awarded for successfully summiting Mount St. Helens, Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams on official Mazama climbs. Approximately 2,000 members have earned this award.
Seven Oregon Cascade Peaks
A certificate awarded for successfully summiting Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, 3-Fingered Jack, Mt. Washington, North Sister, Middle Sister, and South Sister. Approximately 700 members have earned this award.
Sixteen Major Northwest Peaks
A plaque awarded for successfully summiting Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, Glacier Peak, Mt. Olympus, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Stuart, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, 3-Fingered Jack, Mt. Washington, North Sister, Middle Sister, South Sister, and Mt. Shasta. Approximately 500 members have earned this award.
Terry Becker Award
Awarded to climb leaders who have led the Sixteen Major Northwest Peaks. Originated in 2000. Approximately 12 leaders have earned this award.
5, 10, and 15 Point Leadership Awards
Awarded for leadership of successful ascents on the sixteen major northwest peaks. A point system determines eligibility, with one point credited for leads and one-half point for assistant leads. Points are cumulative from one award to the next.
5-Point Leadership
Must include 3 successful leads, 2 of which have been on Guardian Peaks. Certificate. Approximately 130 leaders have earned this award.
10-point Leadership
Must include 6 successful leads, 3 of which have been on Guardian Peaks. Certificate. Approximately 95 leaders have earned this award.
15-point Leadership
Must include 9 successful leads, 4 of which have been on Guardian Peaks. Certificate. Approximately 116 leaders have earned this award.
